Update on Murtha’s antics

posted in American Politics |

Here I wrote about Murtha using threats to try and bully his peers in the congress to vote his way. Well now it seems his bestest buddy/girlfriend/protector Nancy Pelosi has come out in defense of Murtha.

Pelosi Defends Murtha Vs. GOP Reprimand

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is defending a close Democratic ally whom Republicans want to reprimand for threatening a GOP lawmaker’s spending projects.

It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Pelosi is doing this. Remember she’s the one who tried to get Murtha into an even more prominent role when the Dem’s took over.

During leadership elections after Democrats regained control of the House in November, Pelosi aggressively backed Murtha in his bid to become majority leader, the No. 2 position. He lost to Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md.

Thank god she lost there, could you imagine Murtha in that role, bullying opponents into submission to get his way?

According to Rogers’ account, which Murtha did not dispute, the Democrat angrily told Rogers he should never seek earmarks of his own because “you’re not going to get any, now or forever.”

It’s a darn good thing that she lost her attempt. Though this shouldn’t surprise anyone that John “Okinawa Abscam” Murtha acts this way. Western PA needs to vote this bum out of office.
