Wow, time is funny, I knew I hadn’t posted in awhile but didn’t realize that it was this long. Hell word press came out with an update and it got applied here and even FUBARed my page setup. For those of you who’ve been coming here and making comments, I thank you! Going to try to get around more to writing things and fixing the style/format to look better. Let me know what browser you’re using if things don’t look right.
Ok, today I’m brewing up an industrial sized, kevlar coated pot of STFU for the next Mayor of Philadelphia, Michael Nutter. Now, really I should be calling Nutter the next Mayor of Philly, because well we haven’t elected a republican to run this city since I think 1952. Our current candidate doesn’t even have a platform, he’s just the sacrificial lamb because we need to run someone out there. Most people expect him to win by 40-50 pts easily. In fact, I’d consider it a win if our guy got 15% of the vote. Our city currently has more murders and shots ringing out then Anbar province, and the only real difference between Philly and Iraq right now is that Harry Reid isn’t calling for a pull out of Philly (tho he should). So let’s take a look at the ad that has me so ticked off at Nutter (pay attention to about 10 seconds in).
That’s right. Nutter wants to get out the vote to “show these 2 (Bush and Cheyney) that they are still accountable”. What a crock, seriously there hasn’t been a politician accountable for a thing in Philadelphia in my lifetime! Heck, Mayor Street won his 2nd term while being investigated by the FBI! This is a pure example of BDS and really it’s not what’s going to fix our city. For that we need not BDS but rather a Republican who is tough on crime and will actually hold city hall and the politicians working there accountable.
Mr. Nutter, enjoy the cup of STFU, you can drink it while obsessing about Bush/Cheyney instead of trying to think of ways to fix our city.
The members of the committee who gave a Nobel PEACE prize to Al Gore. I’ve got an inconvient question to ask.. What the fuck does a crocumentary so full of the crap that Micheal Moore wishes he made it have to do with peace? I’m not even going to get into all the lies ahem inconsistencies in the film. Let’s just think about Nobel Peace Prize here and what a joke it’s become. We can now place Al Gore in the same breath as:
Yasser “make sure the bomb vest is tight” Arafat. This schmuck didn’t do a thing for PEACE, but rather PIECES as in pieces of suicide bomber.
Jimmy “Misery Index” Carter. Radical Islam got it’s first major major foothold in our times during his reign. Perhaps if he had any testicular fortitude and had carpet bombed Tehran when they had their revolution and took our people hostage we wouldn’t have such a big mess there now.
Kofi “sure I’ll take that bribe” Annan. Single handedly kept Saddam in power and wealth during the embargo’s.
The United “to do nothing” Nations. Really do I need to say how the UN is against peace? They want war as a way to justify their existence aka need.
Mohamed “I don’t see any nukes here” Elbaredhi. The Mr. Magoo of nuclear inspectors.
Yes those sure are some people dedicated to peace in the world. Al Gore should be proud to be among them. He’s done as much for world peace as any of them i.e. not a damn thing. The prize and the committee has become a joke of such global proportions that I think few if any care about it anymore.
Maybe the committee feels that so many people are fighting because it’s too hot and that if things were a little cooler we might not go to war? If that’s the case let me nominate Jack Welch of GE fame, because they make some truly kicking air conditioners. So today I present a cup of STFU to the committee for the Nobel Peace Prize, the only people more worthless then the recent winners.
Ed Rendell looks like he’s one of the democrats with campaign donation problems. Even more then just Hsu. Fast Eddie has already been linked to CAIR so we know he’s not particular about the company he keeps. Now it seems that in addition to claiming Hsu is a good guy he’s not going to give the money back unless the guy gets “convicted”.
“I want to hear him out; I don’t want to be one of the guys to pile on,” Rendell said last Thursday. “Norman Hsu’s one of the best 10 people I’ve met. He raised money for me because he believes in all the things we’re doing and he never asked for a bloody thing - not a job, not a contract, not to attend a wedding.”
The next day, the governor said: “I think this whole thing stinks. If this conviction stands I will give the money back, but this idea of making him out to be some sort of major criminal is absurd.”
and
For the time being, Rendell remains one of the few politicians across the nation who have decided to keep campaign contributions from Hsu.
Seems Ed Rendell might be called to testify in a potentially large FEC campaign donation case involving….Hillary. Bob Parks at blackandright.mensnewsdaily.com has all the full details on it as well as Freepers are all over it here. You can also go here for some more background. I’m all for Eddie getting indicted, impeached, etc. Lynn Swann, stay near your phone.
**update** right after I wrote this post I saw that Eddie had caved in and decided to donate the money to charity.
“Though Norman is my friend, and remains so, his failure to appear casts a new light on his assertions regarding the original case,” Rendell said in a statement. “As a result, I will follow other elected officials and donate the money he contributed to me to charity.”
Poor Eddie he doesn’t seem happy about it at all. That’s a lot of cheesesteaks he’s giving up there.
I’m watching Fred on Leno now, and he seems to have this tendency to slap his knee while talking…anyone else notice that? Right now he’s talking about his “competition” basically not saying anything combative but that’s smart since he’s just now getting into the race. Jay hit him with the “lazy like a fox” thing and Fred’s handling it pretty well. He’s getting into the 15 minute ad on his page, I’ll check it out before going to bed and comment on it here in an update.
I think Fred’s doing the right thing by announcing on Leno overall. The debate tonight was on Fox, the undecided centrist voters aren’t watching that channel but they do watch Leno. Fred can take his candidacy to a larger group of undecideds then by being in the debate. In addition, Fred can get on Hannity and Colmes any time he wants to and talk to Fox viewers. He also gave himself some more breathing room before being the target for all the attacks of the other candidates, and make no mistake about it, Fred will be a target. Sure some shots got sent across his bow during the debate but no one could go right after him without him being there. The next debate you will see Romney, Guilani and others coming right after him.
Fred’s talking about Iraq and I’m liking it. He’s talking about how it’s part of a larger picture and reminds everyone of what the world would look like if we hadn’t gone in there. Iran would be developing their nukes, and Saddam would be trying the same thing to keep pace, effectively starting a nuke race in the middle east. People forget what we could be looking at right now. It’s a good thing to remind us all of what things could be like.
Now he’s on Iran and reminding us all that Iran really means. Basically called Ahmednejehad a nut and he’s SO right there.
Money quote on America’s world popularity:
“American has shed more blood for other peoples liberties then all other countries of the world combined”.
That got a huge cheer and it should of cause it’s dead on. All in all Fred handled things very well on Leno, now he’s got to survive the next 30 days, raise a ton of money and not make any stupid mistakes. Going to go watch his ad on Imwithfred.com and will come back with my thoughts on it.
**update**
Ok I’ve listened to the ad. It’s roughly what you got from all the other candidates 6 months ago. The “here’s who I am and what I’m about” speech. That’s all well and good but Fred better step up and step up fast with some policy positions and come out of the gate strong or otherwise he’ll be relegated to the back of the group.
