Is This Another Loophole in Senate Bill 1348? “Other than a native of Mexico” **CAII crosspost**

posted in CAII, Immigration |

You know, a lot of those who have been campaigning FOR amnesty have made it a point to say that those of us against it are “bigoted to Mexicans”. Well it seems the amnesty fans are actually more pro-Mexican then even the Mexican government. Check out this post by Machiavelli from thevirtuousrepublic.com/

Is This Another Loophole in Senate Bill 1348? “Other than a native of Mexico”

President Bush on Friday, in an effort to gain support for his amnesty bill, promised to “bar future” illegal immigrants from the United States. He is quoted as saying, “Under this bill, those caught crossing illegally will be permanently barred from returning to the United States on a work or tourist visa.”

Perusing Senate Bill 1348, I came across this section from page 55:
section131.png
Since most illegals are from Mexico, isn’t this section of the law, which is titled “Mandatory Detention”, being waved for Mexican citizens? Therefore, isn’t this section, while seeming to enforce the law, exempting about 95% of the problem population? In other words, this bill is meaningless, meant to fool the masses into thinking our southern border is being secured. Who is the Senate and the President beholden to, a “national of Mexico” or you and me, citizens of the United States?
So unless this particle passage of the bill is amended, it will be massive illegal immigration as usual despite what the President promised the other day.

Why not let us know what you think by adding your own comment! Your opinion is as valid as anyone elses, so come on... let us know what you think.

Thanks for the trackback and repost.

I had someone leave a comment saying what I posted was B.S. But, I looked through the bill (and granted I might have missed something in the 600 pages or so : ), but how Mexican nationals were to be handled differently was never addressed.

Why is this in the legislation if not to continue the current policy of doing little to illegal Mexican immigrants?

I’d really be interested if someone could make a factual argument against my interpretation. Unlike the left, I’ll admit that I’m wrong. Unfortunately the reader who left the comment at my site, just said I was wrong.

Don’t you just love that! I get that from some readers sometimes, either the “you’re wrong” with no factual backup or the “you’re a hate monger” once again with no factual backup.
