Some Senators have the self-preservation sense kick in

posted in CAII, Immigration |

Just saw over at Hot Air.com that Senator McCaskill is joining the ranks of Senators deciding to save the careers by voting against cloture on the McCain-Kennedy-Specter kill the country amnesty bill. Allah over there has the video here.

Even the AFL-CIO came out against the bill

The AFL-CIO formally came out against the bill Wednesday, reflecting the distaste among manufacturing unions and others whose members have been displaced by overseas competition and would have to compete with an influx of cheaper workers who don’t have labor rights.

Pretty wild when conservatives and a union agree on something. It just goes to show how crappy the bill is. All of this means…nothing yet. We haven’t stopped the bill. Sure we’ve got some things going for us, some Senators saying they will vote against cloture, the House showing that they will be tougher, and some of the unions coming out. Here’s the kicker folks, it ain’t over till it’s over. The senators can easily switch gears and vote for it (especially if bought, and lets face it most senators can be bought), the House could shift focus off the bill, and the unions, well let’s face it there are unions for it (SEIU I’m talking about you) so it’s almost a wash with the unions. We need to keep the pressure up, keep calling, emailing, and sending letters. Frankenstein’s monster didn’t die easily and this Frankenbill won’t either.
