A politician who’s dead on the money
There are several political leaders through out the world, whom years later will be remembered as stalwarts in the war on terror. Look here. John Howard (Prime Minister of Australia) will be one of those leaders, so will Tony Blair, Angela Merkel, and yes George W. Bush (flame away libtards but history will be the judge, not the dailykos). Here’s something John Howard said recently and truer words haven’t been spoken.
Australian PM says US Congress vote on Iraq aids Al-Qaeda
The recent vote on trying to set a date on Iraq withdrawal sends the message to Al-Qaeda that they are winning the war in the hearts, mind, and press of the American public. It tells them that Bin Laden was right when he called America a “paper tiger”. Any time credence is given to something that Bin Laden says it just builds his legend and aids in the recruiting effort.
“I think it is wrong, and I don’t think it is doing anything other than giving great comfort and encouragement to Al-Qaeda and the insurgency in Iraq,” Howard said.
“They are looking at all this, they read newspapers, they see it on television and they say, ‘The American domestic resolve is weakening, therefore we should maintain our resolve.’
How true are those words? To me they ring with such clarity of truth that I can’t believe that more people can’t see it. Howard also sees the repercussions of such treasonous and cowardice actions that our congress is taking here.
“If there is a perception of an America defeat in Iraq, that will leave the whole of the Middle East in great turmoil and will be an enormous victory for terrorism.”
Howard gets it in a way that no Democratic politician gets it, with the possible exception of Lieberman. America and the world could use more John Howard’s. God help us all if we can’t find them.
