Follow the money

posted in American Politics |

Ok, so the other day Merlyworm posted here about Obama and his chances at the presidency and it got me thinking about Obama. Merly’s right, he’s a scary candidate to have to run against the conservatives. For several reasons.

  1. Well spoken.
  2. Intelligent
  3. Very multi-cultural.
  4. Family value wise he’s pretty squeaky clean.
  5. His hands are relative clean politically speaking
  6. Has got the potential big money behind him.

The last one really worries me. I didn’t realize the potential cash that could be behind him till I started looking at some things. The research started when I saw this over at HotAir.com. The link is about how Bill O’reilly went after George Soros (remember this name for later) and Media Matters and how they manipulate the press. Before you read further I’d go look at the Hot Air link and listen to the video of  O’reilly, then come back here.

So I started looking at some other things related to Soros (a very liberal person hell bent on bringing this country down) and came across this page. It’s called Discover the Networks and is a very nice piece of work showing how the so much of the left is funded/cross funded etc. It helps you identify what groups have funded candidates and peoples connections to different groups.

Let’s look at the dossier that they have on Obama. First let’s take a look at the section of his bio where it talks about how he got elected.

The Chicago Tribune endorsed Obama’s run in 2004 for the U.S. Senate. More importantly, the Tribune, whose holding company now also owns the Los Angeles Times, persuaded a Democrat-appointed judge in California to open the sealed divorce records of Obama’s Republican opponent to a press fishing expedition. The resulting sex scandal, based on allegations in the divorce records by a Hollywood actress *this is Jeri Ryan..wowsa-Logan* eager to prevent her ex-husband from getting custody of their children, prompted the Republican to resign from the race. With a $10 million campaign war chest from contributors, and with no Republican opponent who could garner much support, Obama had an open road to become the next U.S. Senator from Illinois.

So someone helped out a political unknown to sling mud at his opponent so badly that the guy pulled out of the race and the seat was easy pickings (this is a tactic that has similiarities to what was done to Tom Delay and Curt Weldon, both republicans). At this point, your probably wondering about Soros, well read on in that bio.

In December of 2006, Obama, then a Democratic presidential hopeful, met with George Soros in the latter’s New York office. Soros had previously hosted a fund-raiser for Obama during the latter’s 2004 campaign for the Senate. On January 16, 2007, Obama announced the creation of a presidential exploratory committee, and within hours Soros sent the senator a contribution of $2,100, the maximum amount allowable under campaign finance laws.

So Soros had backed Obama in the 2004 election, and curiously it was the media that slung all the mud at the republican candidate till he dropped out, leaving it as an easy walk for Obama. Then during the height of “will he run for president” hype Obama met with Soros again, announced his candidacy and recieved a personal donation. Now lets be realistic, Soros is so filthy rich that 2,100 dollars is nothing. However, it does look as if Soros privately gave his backing, then showed his public blessing by a personal donation to Obama.
So, back to the title of this post “follow the money”, let’s look at Obama and money a bit more. Seems in that Obama is a recent addition to the board of directors of the Joyce Foundation. This is important. The Joyce Foundation is a BILLION dollar foundation that funnels money to a multitude of organizations one of which is the Tides Foundation. Obama also gets money and help from the Woods Foundation which among the groups it gives money to is the Tides Foundation. Obama’s connection to the Tides Foundation is important for a couple of reasons:

  1. The Tides foundation connection to Media Matters and it’s media manipulation (see the Hot Air link again).
  2. The connection of the Tides Foundation to the Shadow Party and George Soros.

Now the Shadow Party has a specific goal in mind:

The so-called “Shadow Democratic Party,” or “Shadow Party,” is a nationwide network of more than five-dozen unions, non-profit activist groups, and think tanks whose agendas are ideologically to the left, which are engaged in campaigning for the Democrats. Its activities include fundraising, get-out-the-vote drives, political advertising, opposition research, and media manipulation. The Shadow Party was conceived and organized principally by George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Harold McEwan Ickes — all identified with the Democratic Party left.

Yes, I know that Hilary is mentioned there, but I believe that was because she was the best candidate at the time for a presidential election. Since Obama has now been blessed by Soros he would get the benefit of the power of the Shadow Party, Tides Foundation, etc. More info on Soros and his cash can be found here. See Soros is an expert in trying to effect a “regime change” and often looks for the right face to lead it, with him pulling the strings all along.

He helped fund the 1989 “Velvet Revolution” that brought Vaclav Havel to power in the Czech Republic. By his own admission, he has helped engineer coups in Slovakia, Croatia, Georgia and Yugoslavia. When Soros targets a country for “regime change,” he begins by creating a shadow government — a fully formed government-in-exile, ready to assume power when the opportunity arises. The Shadow Party Soros has built in America greatly resembles those he has created in other countries, prior to instigating a coup.

No one knew who Havel was until Soros put his full weight behind him, and if you think about it 6-7 years ago Obama was unknown. Could he be Soros point man for “regime change” in America? Many on the left would say that America needs it, but I would counter with this question. Does America need regime change so badly that it would be justifiable for 1 non-elected man to be pulling the strings of the government?
Follow the money and connections that Obama has and you will see they lead back to Soros. Obama, on the surface seems to not have many connections to alot of groups, however if you look at the groups connected to him and follow them back you keep seeing Soros checkbook there. In 2000 and 2004 Soros tried to just influence the elections but didn’t have his own horse in the race. It seems that in 2008 he is hand picking the candidate and tossing enough money and media influence behind him to get his way. Those of us on the right really better hope that our field of candidates improves, and soon.

In all honesty, the right would need someone seriously good. And right now, we really dont have anyone. All the money in the world can be beaten by someone willing to say what needs to be said. A republican candidate that is conservative. Proudly conservative. Openly conservative. Unashamed of it. This is someone that can win a national election. Will someone step up, though?
